iPhone killer’s gonna be launched

Motorola is now building a new QWERTY pad phone and claim it as an iPhone competitor. This gadget which named Motorola Droid is a slimmest full-QWERTY slider phone on the market, measuring 4.6 by 2.4 by 0.5 inches—almost precisely the same size as the iPhone, if a few hundredths of an inch thicker—the 3G- and Wi-Fi-enabled Droid makes for one of the thinnest, sleekest QWERTY sliders.

With 3.7” display and 480 by 854 pixels makes it about two-tenths of an inch bigger than the iPhone's display. Measuring 4.6 by 2.4 by 0.5 inches—almost precisely the same size as the iPhone, if a few hundredths of an inch thicker—the 3G- and Wi-Fi-enabled Droid makes for one of the thinnest, sleekest QWERTY sliders. This gadget is also powered by Google Android OS which is to be the first phone to run version 2.0 of Android. This Android version includes full-on support for corporate Exchange e-mail accounts, Facebook integration (meaning that the phone will draw contact information from your Facebook pals into your address book), new Google Maps features (like layers for satellite view, traffic, ATMs, and restaurants, as well as turn-by-turn directions; more on that in a moment), and a more polished-looking interface overall.

Motorola Droid Vs iPhone

Same as Blackberry, with Android make an address book integrated to your facebook or twitter contacts. So if there any contact on your Facebook or other social network sites, it is going to be added to your phone book automatically. Move on, as quoted from yahoo TECH, the new and improved Google Maps, now with GPS-aided turn-by-turn navigation, new for Android 2.0 and appearing first here on the Droid. It's a free, voice-activated service that looks a lot like other GPS navigation apps on the market, complete with a first-person perspective view, big arrows that tell you where to turn next, spoken directions, and the ability to automatically re-route you if you make a wrong turn.

For you who loves photographing or capture all the moments anywhere, this Droid is also powered by 5-MegaPixel camera with a dual LED flash and auto-focus/image stabilization capabilities. Till today, I have not got approximate price for Asia market including the time to be launched in Asia. With all the completeness, what do you think then??? Can Droid kill iPhone domination?

Fastest camera in the world

2 komentar

From wired magazine. Scientists have made the fastest camera ever. It can take 6.1 million pictures in a single second, at a shutter speed of 440 trillionths of a second. Light itself moves just a fraction of a centimeter in that time. The camera works by illuminating objects with a laser that emits a different infrared frequency for every single pixel, allowing them to custom-amplify a signal that would otherwise be too dim to see.

High shutter speeds enable moving objects to be clearly photographed. The less time a camera’s optical eye is open, the less time a subject has to move. But this comes at a price: less light enters the camera, causing the image to be underexposed. That’s why sports photographers use high-powered strobe lights.

The technology is dubbed STEAM (Serial Time-Encoded Amplified Microscopy) and it illuminates objects with an infrared laser that cycles through a series of different wavelengths, one for each pixel on the sensor. This technology is developed by Keisuke Goda’s team and led by Bahram Jalali of UCLA.

When reflected light hits the camera’s sensor, each pixel picks up its dedicated wavelength, and is given an electronic boost of a matching wavelength. That amplifies the original dim signal, composed of just a few photons, until it becomes visible. This can’t be done in a conventional digital camera, because the sensor doesn’t know what the original wavelengths were.

For now, STEAM can only produce images composed of just 3,000 pixels, a far cry from the multi-million-pixel cameras used by consumers. But Goda and his team intends to develop a multi-megapixel camera that can take 100 million pictures per second, with a frame rate of they’re hoping to up this to mega-multipixel mode competitive with standard digital cameras, taking 100 million pictures per second, with a shutter speed of just one-trillionth of a second.

Your future chef

Again, one robot created in Japan named Okonomiyaki. His name is adapted from a Japanese popular pan fried food that consists of batter and cabbage. Due to his name, this is a chef robot that can cook you some kinds of cuisine such as Japanese pan fried. He can cook it to serve it to your table.

He can do all the details of the process of mixing the ingredients in a bowl, pour it into the hot pan, turning the dish to be cooked evenly, and serve it on a plate. He also can directly present the results of food with two hands and even offered to bring additional flavor or type of sauce you want.

His ability is demonstrated in the International Food Machinery and Technology Exhibition in Tokyo, Tuesday (9 / 6). Okonomiyaki is made by Toyo Riki Co., a robot designer company in Osaka. Hopefully, one day the entire world can be served by robot or android, let’s see.

Flash player for mobile

3 komentar
Adobe as a vendor of flash player has launched a new flash player for mobile so it is possible for your smartphones like Blackberry or your netbook to display rich media content such as video and animation. Flash 10.1, will be compatible with many smartphone and netbook platforms, but for now, however, iPhone users will have to wait.

Many web browsers not allow displaying a flash content to light their performance where a year ago, smartphones just didn't have the processing power to deal with a full version of a Flash player. So not only will users gain access to video and other media via Flash, but they will be able to make greater use of rich Internet applications, which often use Flash to create an interactive experience inside the browser.

In today’s mobile time, people are starting to see mobile phones as portable computing platforms than other online devices. That is why Adobe now greatly develops their softwares to a mobile platform and started with this Flash 10.1 for mobile. What about iPhone? Ben Wood, director of mobile research at CCS Insight, a U.K.-based consulting company, credits "the iPhone effect" for pushing device makers to give their products the necessary horsepower. Device makers had previously steered clear of powerful processors because of worries about efficiency, but most have changed in an effort to match the high expectations set by Apple's device. Let us see this technology on iPhone device.

Nobel in Physics for Optical Technology

4 komentar
Optical fibers founded first time in 1966 by Charles Kao, a Shanghai scientist, finally received a 2009 Nobel Prize in Physics. The award was received jointly (shared prize) by Willard Boyle and George Smith. His breakthrough is to determine how to transmit light at a distance using a fiber-optic ultra-pure glass. Optical fibers are commonly used in telecommunications systems as well as in lighting, sensors, and optical imaging. These findings increase the coverage to approximately 99 kilometers from the previous only 19 meters.

After further studies of how light of different wavelengths travels through different media, Kao and his colleagues pointed to silicon dioxide as the best material. But silicon dioxide is difficult to work with. A team of researchers at Corning Glass Works realized Kao's designs in 1970, using a high-pressure reaction chamber to form the first low-loss optical fibers, and others at Bell Laboratories refined the manufacturing technique to bring down the cost.

Now, the modern optical fibers are even better than before predicted, because in 1988 the first intercontinental optical fiber, which was 6,000 kilometers, was laid down between Europe and America; today there are over one billion kilometers of optical fiber around the world, with more being added each day where all the telecommunication technology will all adapt to optical fibers.
